

Samuel (Sam) Eckstein, age 92, a residence of Alpharetta, passed away on February 27th. Sam, a WW II veteran, was born and raised in Bronx, New York where he resided until joining the Navy when he was 18.
A few years after returning to the Bronx, Sam married Natalie (Lee) Ginden in December of 1951 and they spent 64 happy years together. Sam and Lee eventually moved to Old Bridge, New Jersey where they lived for 45 years and raised their two children. Sam was very active in the community with much of his efforts centered on youth activities; Old Bridge Little League and Pop Warner football; as well as local politics. Sam went to work for Present Industrial Supply Company in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Sam worked as the foreman for the company with the responsibility of overseeing the New Jersey location. Once Sam announced his retirement, Present Industrials was sold. Sam spent the first few years of his “retirement” traveling the east coast (with his wife) overseeing the transfer of Present Industrial’s business and properties.
In 1998, Sam and Lee moved to Alpharetta, Georgia so that they could spend their retirement years near their daughter Jill Eckstein. Sam was active in the local VFW and remained involved in his community.
Mr. Eckstein is survived by his daughter Jill Eckstein of Alpharetta, who he has lived with for the last few years and by son Richard Eckstein and his wife Dory of Discovery Bay, California; grandsons Beau Eckstein of Concord, California and Damian Eckstein, his wife Alexis and Sam’s three great grandchildren Reese, Dylan and Ava, of Coto de Caza, California.
Visitation will be held on March 6, 2019 from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd. Roswell, Ga. 30076. A Graveside Service will be held on March 7, 2019 at 9:00 am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, Ga. 30114.
