

Samuel Frank Futral, Jr., age 92, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was born on March 20, 1929, in Savannah, Georgia, the son of the late Samuel Frank Futral, Sr. and Bertie Mae Futral. He served our country as a paratrooper in the United States Army. He also spent some time in Japan during his time in the military.
Samuel met the love of his life, Virginia, while stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and they were united in holy matrimony. This union was blessed with two loving children, Linda and Fr. Samuel III. Samuel and Virginia shared 69 years of happiness with traveling and enjoying precious moments together. They were inseparable.
Samuel worked as an auto mechanic for several years until his retirement. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, sailing, and of course, a good Georgia Tech football game. He lived life to the fullest.
Samuel loved the Lord and loved his church. He converted from Baptist to Catholic in 1987. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Samuel adored his family, as he loved having his family and grandchildren around. He was a devoted husband, loving father, amazing grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His life and legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Linda Settle. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia Futral; son, Fr. Samuel III; grandchildren, Andrew (Morgan) Settle and Thomas Settle; great-grandchild, Peyton; and sister, Jane Dooley, and friends.
