

Samuel D. Guy, retired Vice President of Norfolk Southern Corporation, died March 15, 2012 at North Fulton Regional Hospital from complications from pneumonia. A resident of Roswell, Georgia, Mr. Guy and his wife own a cattle ranch in Madison, Georgia where his son acts as manager. Mr. Guy was born in Troy, Tennessee May 4, 1926. He married his wife, Louise Matson, on June 14, 1953. He served in the Third Armor division during the Korean Conflict from June 1954 until June 1956. Active in the transportation industry for 43 years, he was a certified member, President and Chairman of the Board of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, Inc. during the 1980s. He also co-founded the International Intermodal Expo, based in Atlanta. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John M. Guy of Madison, Georgia, two daughters, Dr. Anita L. Guy Burgess of Cincinnati, Ohio and Sarah G. Dellinger of Roswell, Georgia, two grandsons, James Ray Dellinger IV, Roswell, Georgia and Alexander Samuel Burgess, Cincinnati, Ohio and twin granddaughters Taylor Jean Guy and Jordan Louise Guy, Madison, Georgia. Visitation will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Mansell Road in Roswell on Sunday, March 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Roswell on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Cross of Life Lutheran Church, 1000 Hembree Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076 or First Lutheran Church, 1301 Colley Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia 23417.
