Born in the Bronx, NY to parents Arturo Torrence Lowe and Denise Marie Filmore, August 6, 1986, Sean possessed that rare gift of making people laugh. Known to invite people into his happy bubble, Sean's been credited by many friends, family and co-workers for changing their lives through his infectious optimism.
As a child, Sean was naturally inquisitive and intelligent -- always interested in the world around him. At an early age, rather than watching cartoons in the morning like other children, Sean watched the morning news because he "wanted to know what's going on in the world!"
As a result, Sean -- an honor student throughout his school career -- excelled in the humanities. In 2008, he earned his undergraduate degree with a major in Economics and a minor in African American studies from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Sean was also an accomplished athlete. He played basketball yet shined in track and field throughout high school and college, specializing in the 100 meters, 400 meters, 600 meters and relay for the University of Maryland Track and Field Team. A natural leader, Sean became team captain and volunteer assistant coach for the University of Maryland and the University of California at Los Angeles. His on-field performance paved the way for him to try out for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field team, although he missed qualification by a mere 4/10 of a second.
Sean was a typical extrovert -- energized by the presence of people. For Sean, retail marketing seemed a perfect fit. He was a Business Development Representative for Pepsi Beverage Company, an Account Manager at Coca-Cola Refreshments and Apple Computers, Inc. But he found his niche at Nike, Inc where he combined his two best skill-sets: sales and sports.
Sean met Shanala, the mother of his 11-month-old son, Cameron, through a mutual friend while they both worked for Nike. They later became engaged and Cameron was born March 31, 2015.
Sean loved his work, friends, and family -- especially the young family he started with his fiancé Shanala, and his son Cameron, whose life was also cut way too short.
He is survived by his fiancé Shanala Fischer-Williams, 26; his mother, Denise Marie Filmore; his brother Terry, 16; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn J. Washington; his step-grandfather, Harvey Walker; one uncle, Clifford Gerard Filmore; his cousin Gerard Lake, 30, and an extended family of cousins, who were like siblings to Sean. He is joined in death by his one and only son, Cameron Anthony Lowe, 11 months, and preceded in death by his grandfather, William Moses Filmore.
