Shirley Irene Skrobanski

Shirley Irene Skrobanski aka “Mrs. S” passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 5, 2022 at the age of 74. She was an unforgettable teacher, loving wife, and outstanding mother to not only her own children but to those who needed maternal love and guidance.

Shirley was born in Bryan, Ohio on December 7, 1947. She finished her Bachelor’s degree at Miami University, majoring in Education and minoring in Library Science. She became a beloved and life-changing teacher in both Baltimore County and Cobb County. She married her love, Zygmunt Skrobanski, at St. Andrew in 2001. She pursued a Masters degree at Kennesaw State to focus on Gifted Education. In retirement, she studied how to write children’s books, took up gardening, cared for her plants, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul’s pantry at St. Andrew, visited Destin frequently, cooked up a storm, and doted on her family (including her cat Sundae).

Her walking presence will be missed by her neighbors, so to honor her memory, take a walk around the neighborhood, light a candle, plant, garden, laugh, adapt a recipe, take a picture of deer, or show unwavering care to those around you. Shirley is survived by her husband, Zygmunt; her children, Craig Swanson and Dana Swanson; her sister, Judith Baublitz; and her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by so many.

Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30am EST on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Roswell, GA, located on Riverside Road. Burial and light reception at Greenlawn Cemetery and Roswell Funeral Home, located on Mansell Road, to follow.
