After starting his career with UPS as a driver in his hometown, Steve later became a well-respected manager with the company whose corporate communications career spanned typewriters to Twitter. Along the way, Steve’s example and mentoring helped countless colleagues excel. To those around him and especially his surviving children Stephen and Jason, as well as his grandchildren Emily and Jared, and daughter-in-law Crystal, his love, generosity, and guidance never ceased. Steve also is known for his love of animals, which were an important part of his life and family.
Others remember Steve as a local baseball star who in his senior year at Morris Harvey College (now University of Charleston) set a national pace in runs batted in. He opted not to pursue a professional baseball career to focus on his young family.
In his many roles, Steve always set a quiet and gentle example of leadership, excellence, and humility. His legacy continues in the accomplishments of those fortunate enough to have known him as a mentor, father, and friend. He will be forever missed.
