Tom hired me sight unseen to work at Siebel and leave Oracle in 1999.  He requested that if I ever feel like I want to return to Oracle to give him a call.  Well as it turns out Tom left Siebel for Sybase and in 2004 I wound up on the layoff list at Siebel.  So out of the blue I contacted Tom at Sybase and told him my story.  He said "Don't do anything until I call you back".  Tom never did call back, but the next day I was removed from the layoff list.

As a childhood friend from Norwalk, Connecticut and on behalf of all Tom's Honeyhill Elementary School classmates, who had hoped he could make it to our incredible reunion in May 2011 (as did he), we feel a deep loss and express our condolences to Tom's family.

My condolences to the Conlan family for your loss. Tom was a great boss, a great manager but mainly a great person. He was an outstanding leader who always care about people. I am in debt with Tom as he gave me a lot. He positively influence my career. You must always be proud of him. May his soul rest in peace.

We all love Tom in Sybase Latin America, we respected him and thank the great opportunity to have worked with him and learned from him. Mexico Sybase employees will join the memorial services in a Mass for Tom Conlan in a Church in Mexico City at 13:30 PM CT.  Sybase Brasil employees will also do a Mass on 6/7 at 19:30 local time. May his soul rest in piece, our prayers are with Tom and his family.
