Verlon Eric Gooding

He was born on May 9th, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Eric and Lavette Gooding. Verlon was raised in a loving environment and later married his high school sweetheart, Tavyia Thompson. They became the proud parents of 2 sons, Wyatt Verlon Gooding (age 7) and Morgan Mekhi Gooding (age 2). He was attending Mercer University, College of Engineering in Macon, Georgia to complete his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Verlon had a successful career in Air Force Aviation Maintenance as a Crew Chief for the 855th Rescue Generation Squadron. He received multiple awards and certificates for his top-tier HH60 expertise. During his career he continued to positively impact those around him, becoming a mentor to many.

Outside of his professional life, Verlon had a deep passion for adventure and the great outdoors. He was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the river as well as the thrill of riding his Yamaha R1 to the beautiful Mt. Charleston. His presence illuminated every room he entered, and his warm smile brought comfort to all who knew him. Verlon had a nurturing spirit and was known for his infectious energy and laughter and the love he had for his wife, children, family and friends. To know him was to love him. Verlon is survived by his wife, children, parents, siblings, and a host of relatives and friends who loved him dearly. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, unwavering dedication to his family and the US Air Force, and his passion to live every single day to the fullest.

A visitation for Verlon will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. A visitation will occur Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076.
