

Mr. Wayne Allen Craven passed away on Nov. 14. He was employed by the Cobb County School System since 1983 and was currently the Intensive English Language Coordinator and instructor of ESOL endorsement classes to Cobb County educators. During 2006-2007, Wayne held the position of Title III/ESOL Program Specialist at the Georgia State Department of Education. Beginning his distinguished career by graduating from Duke University after earning his degree in German Language and Literature, he continued to study at New York University where he received an M.A. and later an Ed.S. in Foreign Language Education with an emphasis in German from the University of Georgia. While at UGA, he was a TA, teaching German classes for two years. He taught German at Lassiter, Kennesaw Mountain, and Kell High Schools. As an educator, Wayne received awards recognizing his creativity and excellence as a teacher, sponsored many student trips to Germany, participated in National Endowment for the Humanities' Seminars and taught German for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program. Wayne will be deeply missed, always respected and fondly remembered for his intelligence, creativity and inventiveness of practical jokes. He is preceded in death by his mother, Oneedus Craven. Wayne is survived by his loving family, including his father, Mr. Allen Craven and his wife Mrs. Eileen Ott Craven of Monticello, GA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and former students. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P. M. Thursday, Nov. 18 and the Funeral Service will be held 11 A.M., Friday, Nov. 19. Both services will be held at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076. Burial will be at North Atlanta Memorial Park following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's honor to the American Heart Association.
