Barbara Lynn Amyx (Lambdin) passed away in the early morning of April 9, 2026, wrapped in the love and prayers of family. Barbara was born in Sacramento, California to Thomas Laverne Lambdin and Carol Sue Lambdin on May 7, 1963.
Barbara grew up in Stockton, California and attended Edison High School. In her teen years, Barbara could be seen slathering baby oil on while laying out at the family pool, hanging out with friends, or driving her younger sisters, Shelly and Karen, around in her Monte Carlo, listening to rock and roll. She was a lover of music, especially live music, and passed this passion along to her sisters.
She moved to Alameda, California and lived there for several years. Alameda is where Barbara made many friends and where she met her future husband, John, in April 1988. While John served in the Navy, Barbara kept busy by working at several jobs, hanging out with her sisters, and building lifelong friendships. In 1990 after John completed his time in the Navy, they moved to San Diego County and lived there for 7 ½ years. While it was a big adjustment, Barbara grew to love the coastal areas of Southern California, where she and John made many friends, and built a wonderful life together. This is where her love for the beach began. Barbara’s favorite place on earth was Hawaii, and she dreamed of living there someday.
John and Barbara married on August 15, 1992. They moved to Sacramento in January 1998. They have lived in Sacramento since. Barbara was known for being the life of the party. Her smile and laugh were contagious, and this is what brought so many people into her life. Barbara had the gift of gab, and no matter where she was, you would always find her striking up a conversation with strangers, always finding something in common, always making everyone feel loved and welcome. She loved traveling the world with John and many friends and family. She was the ultimate planner and any trip she went on; you would find her exploring and seeking adventure. She loved her family and all her friends, even ones she was only able to see occasionally. She was an incredible aunt to Leila, Sam, and Ian. She loved them and found great joy in helping to take care of them and watching them grow up.
Barbara held a deep love for all animals, especially dogs. Her love of music was expansive. She went to countless live concerts and shared this love of music with all around her. Her humor and wit were quick, and she brought laughter to all blessed to be around her. She will be missed every hour of every day.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Lambdin, her grandparents, Raymond and Kathleen Taylor, Laverne and Patricia Lambdin, John’s mother Dorothy Draper, and other relatives.
She is survived by her beloved husband John Amyx, her mother Carol Lambdin, her stepmother Eilene Lambdin, sisters and brothers-in-law Shelly and Mounir Belmamoun, and Karen and Eric Bengtson, her niece Leila Belmamoun, her nephews Sam and Ian Bengtson, along with countless other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 12pm at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA, 95608.
