Bonni Dean Lewis

June 8, 1950 - April 16, 2022

RANCHO CORDOVA, California - Bonni (Waite) Lewis passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2022. Bonni was a remarkable woman of warmth and humor, courage and stamina, who brought joy into other people's lives wherever she went. She brought particular joy for 44 years into the life of her husband Johnny and for 43 years into the life of her first son Matthew, for 40 years into the life of her second son Andrew and for 4 years into the life of her grandson Baxter. The only daughter of Warren and Betty Waite, she had several brothers: Kenny, Cal, Mark, and Scott. Cal and Mark gave “Aunt Bonni” several nieces and nephews: Letrice, Brandee, Casey, and Jamie (Cal’s and loving wife Beverly’s girls), and Christie and Mark Jr (Mark’s and loving wife Charlyne’s daughter and son).

In 1978 Bonni was a beautiful sparkling 28 year old redheaded school teacher (graduate of San Diego State) who left a slightly older Johnny smitten and after the two married, she raised two great sons - Matthew (whose loving partner is Amy) and Andrew (whose loving wife is Jami) and gave each of them close to idyllic childhoods. She made their childhood home the center of action in their Rosemont neighborhood, where Johnny would return from work and find eight neighborhood kids hanging out.

In later years Bonni continued to be a great positive influence on her family, bringing them a sense of balance with her very low level of anxiety combined with her high level of energy. A lot of that energy went into her love for the swimming pool where for years she was a beautiful graceful swimmer whose strokes barely broke the water. In everything she simply radiated light, it was as simple as that. And she loved nature, from the scenic American River where she walked her dogs at River Bend park to her backyard where she grew her lovely flowers and watched hummingbirds dance. And of course she loved her many cats over the years and always laughed at Johnny's silly jokes. She will be missed terribly by family and friends alike.

A family celebration of life for Bonni is planned for June 4 at her home.
