Chris Gust Platis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Chris Gust Platis, who departed this life peacefully surrounded with family and love on May 2nd, 2025, at the age of 92. Chris was born on September 22nd, 1932, in Price, Utah, to Gust and Matilda Hvala Platis.

Chris graduated from Carbon Country High School and went on to working as a Highway Patrol, land surveyor, for Shell performing surveying offshore of San Francisco, and then educating himself to work for Ford Motor Company as a computer programmer in which he built a respectable career and retired. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones playing golf, fishing, boating, or whatever activity as long as it was outdoors. He always had a good story to tell and a quick smile.

Chris had 9 children, Guy, Christi, Geri, Toni, Greg, Jill, Pam, Gus, and Trisha, 7 grandchildren, Mark, Casandra, Nicki, Deseri, Robert, Christine, and Deanna, and seven great grandchildren. Chris is one of 13 siblings. He is survived by his sisters Connie and Paulette and his brothers Tom (wife Helen) and Dean.

A private memorial will be held for Chris. Chris suffered from alzheimer’s the last years of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Cure Alzheimer's Fund at https://curealz.org/giving/donate/ .
