

Edwin was born in Diller, Nebraska to Frederick and Johanna De Boer (Schipper) as the last of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and four sisters and his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty LaRane (Wolcott) . He is survived by his four children Louise Rickey (Wayne), Rodney De Boer (Sandi), Joyce Dryer (Peter) and Kenneth (Valerie), 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
At the age of 17 Edwin joined the Civil Conservation Corp in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved to California in 1941 and was employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1944. As a Medic Aidman he served in combat for over 100 straight with the 25th Division in Luzon, the Phillipines, and later in Japan during occupation duty after the war.
He returned to Nebraska in 1946 involved in farming for several years. He returned to California in 1957 and was employed at Aerojet General advancing to machine shop supervisor until his retirement.
Edwin enjoyed his family and friends as well as anyone could. He was a member the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Fair Oaks and in Turlock. He belonged to the Christian Campers Club, American Legion and Management Club at Aerojet. He and his wife were actively involved in youth activities, travelled many miles in their RV, including mission trips with youth. His hobbies and interests included fishing and camping and handyman service to whoever had need.
