He was a lifelong champion of civil rights and justice for all. Hal worked most of his career at the California Attorney General’s office until he retired in 2000 when he then began a new career as a volunteer judge for the next 15 years.
He fought for and supported many charitable causes and nonprofit organizations, including the Jewish Federation, Temple B’nai Israel, College Promise, UC Davis Hillel and many others.
He is survived by his two sons Daniel and Joshua and their wives Patricia and Andrea and two grandsons Philippe and Alexandre. His beloved wife and partner of more than 60 years, Anne, passed away in 2024.
