Jeanette Margaret Brown

Jeanette “Jean” Mikulic Brown, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2023, with her beloved daughters by her side. She was born on April 17, 1932, in Sacramento, CA, to Marian and Kristina Mikulic. She married Fred Brown, in February 1950, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Jean is survived by her daughter Judy (Jerry) Hecox, daughter Laurie Brown, granddaughter Stacey (Michael) Claxton, grandson Jerry Jr. (Heather) Hecox, great grandson Kyle Hecox, and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Jean was born and raised in Sacramento. She graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School. She worked at the Sacramento Bee for a short time followed by a 22 year career at the Department of Motor Vehicles. She simultaneously owned and operated an auto mechanic business, Advanced Tire, with her husband. She retired in 1992.

She was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her children and especially loved her role as Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and lavished people with her love and affection. She was devoted to her faith and had a passion for cooking, shopping and traveling. She and her family were proud members of the Croatian community in Sacramento.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 20th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home at 5401 Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 21st at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church located at 5057 Cottage Way in Carmichael. A reception will immediately follow at the church. Interment service will be held at 2:00 pm on the same day at St. Mary Cemetery at 6509 Fruitridge Road in Sacramento.
