Juanita was born in Ottawa, Illinois, on April 15, 1927, and entered her heavenly home on March 23, 2016, in Sacramento, California. After her father's death, she moved to California in 1941 with her mother and siblings. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, married and raised her family. She worked as a senior account clerk for the State of California for 18 years. This matriarch with strong faith leaves behind a legacy of love and service. Her life was the consummate illustration of living selflessly. Her tenacious assault on adversity was an inspiration to all who were privileged to witness her strength and determination. She lived her final days on her own terms: in her home, surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog, Toby, with all the attendant sounds and activity of family life. She left this world and entered the next with faith unshaken, sense of humor intact, and, above all, with her capacity for unconditional love ever complete. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sister, Pat Lysaght, children Cynthia (Edward) Blecha, Michael (Danielle), Colleen Hounihan, Sean (Cathy), Terrance, and Kevin, as well as fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Halm, her sisters, Shirley Halm and Donna Ghilarducci, her son, Timothy, and grandson, Ryan. Donations may be made to Christian Brothers High School Scholarship Fund at 4315 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Sacramento, California 95820 and/or St. Mary Bereavement Ministry at 1333 58th Street, Sacramento, California 95819. There will be a Visitation from 5-7pm followed by a Vigil Service at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger, 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, California 95819, on Tuesday, March 29, at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 30, at 10am at St. Mary Parish followed by a reception in Giovanni Hall. Interment will be private.
