

Mary Kyriakides passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer at her home in Folsom, CA on December 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Irene Kirkopulos and sister, Fay Kirkopulos.
Mary was born on January 23, 1938 in McGill, Nevada. She attended grade school in McGill and White Pine High School in Ely, NV. At 16, Mary and her family moved to Sacramento, CA where they joined the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. After graduating high school, she worked for KCRA Channel 3 for eight years. She then worked as a legal assistant for a local attorney for 20 years. As part of her duties, Mary processed multi-family FHA loans insured by the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development including the Hellenic Senior Center in Sacramento. She also worked for a number of years at SKK Developments in Sacramento.
In 1978, Mary met John Kyriakides at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and they married on September 2, 1978. Mary and John were active members of the Greek American Progressive Association, the choir, and volunteered and chaired church events. John and Mary started and managed the Sacramento Greek Festival’s first Gyro booth for 17 years. They were also members of Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Elk Grove, CA. After retirement, Mary and John traveled the United States and the world visiting, France, Great Britain, Greece, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
Mary leaves behind two daughters, Leiza (husband David) Krimminger of Fancy Gap, VA and Rena Vasile of Folsom, CA. She was very proud of her two granddaughters, Christina and Alexis Vasile who also live in Folsom. Mary is remembered for her boundless strength and strong devotion to family, friends and church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 600 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95816. internment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento. Following interment, a meal of remembrance will be served at the Annunciation Hellenic Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 9165 Peets Street, Elk Grove, CA 95758.
