

Mary Toccalini, passed away in her home, surrounded by her daughters on December 7, 2013. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico on November 8, 1921. Preceded in death by her parents Refugio and Guadalupe Cereceres and her husband Frank Toccalini. She is survived by her daughters Linda and Darlene. The fifth of seven children, she was preceded in death by brothers: Ascencion and Manuel, sisters Connie Payan and Jessie Padilla. She is survived by her brother John Cereceres (Katie), sister Vera Mesquita and sister in law Carmen Cereceres, and many niececs and nephews. Our mother was an inspirational role model. She came from a hard working family. She worked in fields harvesting crops. She also worked on locomotives for the Southern Pacific Railroad. She was widowed at the age of 49. She attended Fremont Adult School and obtained her high school diploma. She went on to work for Sacramento County for 16 years as a Family Management Worker for Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services. She used her bilingual skills to assist many of her clients. She loved music, dancing, fashion, gardening, traveling, and socializing. She was our best friend and soul mate. To the world she was one; to us she was the world. We would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care and Vitas Hospice for their loving care during her illness. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15 from 1-4pm with a Rosary at 4pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 16 at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1030 39th Street in Sacramento.
