May 25th, 1932 – March 16th, 2021
Nancy was born in Glendale, California, the only child to Everett Franklin Lawrence and Ruby Ann Murphy Lawrence. She lived in many towns and cities across California as her father was a surveyor for the State.
She attended and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1949. After graduation, she began work for the State, moving on to the Sacramento Police Department where she served as a dispatcher. She then went on to become an officer in charge of the Metro Division, and was one of the only women sergeants on the SPD. This is where she met her husband, Richard Rodriguez, who was also an SPD officer.
Nancy was an avid reader – mostly English history, but she loved a good English mystery, too. One could even call her an expert genealogist, as she traced her mother’s family back to the Mayflower...era... and her father’s lineage back to Ellis Island. She was also a self-described “super fan” of the New England Patriots and a lover of all sports.
She is survived by her daughters; Valerie Coffey, Kelly Rodriguez, Laura Rodriguez, and Shari Rodriguez. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Rodriguez, and her sons, Patrick D. Rodriguez and Lawrence J. Rodriguez. She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved cousin, Gloria Queen, and her best friend, Mary Morello.
Her family was very proud of her, and she will be dearly missed.
