Our precious mother, Orlina, slipped the surly bonds of Earth and touched the face of God on September 8, 2013. Her long valiant struggle with Parkinson’s disease ended when Jesus wrapped her in his loving arms and escorted her home on angel’s wings to reside in her Lord’s heavenly Mansion. Orlina is finally at peace in a place where there is no more pain or sorrow surrounded by God’s love for all eternity.
Orlina was the fifth of ten children born to Gustaf Dockter and Paulina (Delzer) Dockter. Our sweet mother’s journey thru life began in the small South Dakota town of Trail City on January 11, 1928. She was accompanied on this journey by her husband Herb who thought he was mostly in charge, but in reality it was mom who made sure everything worked in our family. Mom lived a life of dignity and grace, chose to be a fulltime homemaker and instilled all the best of herself into her children. Her unconditional love was felt by all who knew her as she always put the well-being of others before herself. Mom’s love light will continue to shine brightly as she always put her faith in the hands of her Savior.
Our beloved Orlina will be sorely missed by her children - sons Jon and Mark, daughter Paula (Forrest) and grandsons Richard and Bret. Survived by sisters La Setta, Alethea, Eunice and Polly and brother Allen. She will be especially missed by many friends in River Park who have known Orlina for over 60 years. She was predeceased by Herbert, her husband of 63 years; brothers Orville, Leslie and Quentin, sister La Vern and grandson Stephen David Mackey.
Please practice random acts of kindness to others to honor our mother’s memory. A life well lived, good and faithful servant. And now, may the peace and serenity of a richly deserved rest be yours forever until we are all reunited again.
A service will be held on September 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Fremont Presbyterian Church, 5770 Carlson Dr., Sacramento, CA 95819. Reception to follow. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Northern California (PANC) 7840 Madison Ave. Suite 107, Fair Oaks, CA 95648 or Fremont Presbyterian Church.
