I was so sad--and surprised--to hear of  Sammy's passing. She was my sister-in-law for  many years and the beloved wife of my brother, Tom.  What a wonderful wife she was to him! She was always by his side during his many illnesses, helping and encouraging him. They shared so many things-- their faith, their generosity to those in need, their love of family and the joy they both  took in all Sammy's many nieces and nephews as well as their much-loved dogs. I remember how they opened their home to people sleeping outside at the church across from their house, providing meals and safe storage for their possessions.  They were always helping someone and had kind words for all.

Sammy's love of her family was impressive. She often recited the names of all her nieces and nephews and was always so happy to announce a new addition to their family.

I'll miss Sammy's warm heart and ready laughter and her way of making friends with everyone she met. Rest in joy, dear sister-in-law, you lived a good life.



I feel deeply saddened to hear of the death of Sammy.  Even though we had our ups and downs, I feel richly blessed to have known her as the person she was to me.  She had a generous giving heart that was so caring and dear. She was always doing something for somebody else.  Whenever Tom, Sam and I would go out together she would bring all kinds of snacks and drinks for us.  She would help a total stranger if she saw they were in need without a bit of hesitation.  Often when we would go out to eat if she had any leftovers from her meals in a " doggy bag", she would offer it to a poor hungry street person whether he was standing by for a handout or walking along the street.  

One of my favorite memories of Sam was a Thanksgiving dinner, we celebrated in their new condo.  She had invited me over for dinner.  She had the table set beautifully and she had made a beautiful fruit plate with huge strawberries, melon and pineapple.  She was so proud to be the host of the dinner (instead of the guest) and Tom was too.  He was so proud of her and truly loved her so very much.  Whenever she and Tom went shopping, she would come over to my place with extra milk or toilet paper, TV dinners or cookie snacks or some other nifty thing from the dollar store that she had come across.  I could go on and on with the stories and memories…. 

Thank you, Sam for being you and for giving me so many reasons to smile.   My heart jumps with Joy to know that you are now reunited with my dear brother and no longer alone. I will miss you both very much.  I will carry you and Tom in my heart and prayers always.  Your Sister-in-Law, Sue Boone
