

Tom Crawford was born in New York City, NY to James and Sheila Crawford on November 3, 1934 and passed away September 24, 2014 in Sacramento, CA. Due to Tom’s laser focused work ethic, his accomplishments were many. After receiving two master’s degrees Tom decided to attend law school for two years at McGeorge School of Law. Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force in February of 1953. In 1961 he was selected for Officer Candidate School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He flew as a navigator on EB-66s at Tahkli Air Base, Thailand, until 1967 flying 102 combat missions. In May 1968 he was assigned to the AFPRO General Dynamics Plant at Fort Worth, Texas as an F-111 series acceptance Weapons Systems Officer. In 1985 Tom was a part of the Air Attache in Lima, Peru and also the Defense Attache from 1986-1988. As a Master Navigator, Tom has over 3,000 hours of flying time. His military decorations and awards include the Distiguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal and two Good Conduct Medals. He was promoted to Colonel in June 1982 with date of rank of 24 December 1981.
Tom also enjoyed spending time volunteering at several organizations including the RCIA at St. Mary’s Church, the cardiology clinic at Mather VA Hospital and the supervisory committee for Mather Credit Union.
Among his secular accomplishments, his most favored would be that of his family. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, June; his six children Patrick (Pam), Kevin (Linda), Sean (Debby), Brian, Timothy (Jennifer) and Sheila Borah (Gary); grandchildren Thomas, Nick, Jasper, Kelly, Meghan, Logan, Daniel, Andrew, Jon (Mae) and Joseph Crawford, Angela Kennedy (Bryson) and Jolynn Borah and great granddaughter Lily Borah.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3 from 4-7pm followed by a Vigil Service at 7pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1333 58th St.
