

Survivors include children Suzanne Spalding, Bradford Stein, and Jeffrey Stein, siblings Mary Ann Stein, Victoria Wilson (Stein), George Stein, and Gregory Stein, grandchildren Avery Spalding, Meghan Spalding, Zachary Stein, and Elliott Stein, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime partner Kathryn Lynn Adams.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Maryland and Lincoln Law School. Upon admission to the California State Bar in 1980, Bill commenced a thirty-five-year law career and also, volunteered as a Pro Tempore judge retiring in 2015.
Bill was a proud Navy veteran of the Vietnam War's River Patrol Force and continued his support of veteran causes through his volunteer services.
A man of varied interests, he enjoyed volunteering at the railroad museum, traveling the globe, playing and umpiring baseball, taking underwater photography during his SCUBA adventures, and cheering on all Maryland sports.
Before passing, Bill advised that on his final path to his Higher Power, he would need to cross the Rainbow Bridge to collect beloved Cockers, Cody and Miss Ginger, for their last walk together.
Friends and family are invited to attend Bill's memorial service on Thursday, February 23rd at 2 pm at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger (5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento). Bill's final resting place will be the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, in Dixon, California. Remembrances can be made to NorCal Cocker Rescue, Inc.
