Elmer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War, where he was a member of the SCARWAF (Special Category Army Reassigned with Air Force) unit. After his military service, he worked as a Mechanic, eventually owned his own gas stations, and owned and operated Elmer’s Automotive in Ferguson, MO. Elmer was also an active member of Crest Bowling League and held several titles in the Riverport Marina Association of Elsberry, MO. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, frogging, golfing, and bowling. He also did a lot of creative woodworking and metalworking projects, which he shared with his family and friends. Most importantly, Elmer enjoyed every moment spent with his dear family, many of which were spent at the family’s “Clubhouse” on the Mississippi river. He was a wonderful and caring man who will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
