I'm going to miss you so very much my dear friend. I was just looking you up because I'd misplaced your number when I found this. I wish I'd gotten to chat with you one more time. I always enjoyed seeing you when you came in the Sandwich Shop. Usually on a Friday after being at the race track. Before the Sandwich Shop, it was Caseyville Rest. In fact, that's were I first met you and your wife. The night we had our longest chat was when you had put your wife in the nursing home and was so sad. You told me how you two had met, about your kids, grandchildren, etc. Then you had came in one day and was going to see her for her birthday. I kept praying she was having a good day that day so she would remember you. I remember you calling the restaurant to let me know our prayers had worked. She knew who you were and you'd had a good visit. I remember our conversations about you helping kids learn to read. I know you said some, if not most of the kids didn't have a positive roll model and that you loved being one for them. You were such a blessing to those kids. I always admired that about you. You were a man of integrity. You had such a caring heart. Quick to help or give words of encouragement. You had such a gentle spirit about you. I will cherish our friendship and my memories forever.
To the family of Erv, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. Sending love and hugs.

Both Jim and I shed a tear this morning after receiving Francine's call that her father had passed away. Erv would call Jim every month with a Shaklee order but they would end up chatting for at least 1/2 hour about baseball and the Army as Jim was in the service also. My mind went back to Arlington Heights - Seeing Erv at the post office or at Shaklee meetings chatting with my mom, and beaming at listening to his daughter's beautiful voice in grade school. He was such a good and kind man, and he will be missed.
