

V. Edward Simms Jr., 88, passed away peacefully July 6, 2023 at Community Hospice and Palliative Care at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, FL while visiting his daughter Kathi Connor and her husband Todd.
Born September 27, 1934 in Midland, PA to Virgil Edward Simms and Dora (Vuletic) Simms. He was the loving husband for 56 years of the late Helen (Kay) Katherine (Easton) Simms who passed away in 2016.
Ed graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA with a BS in metallurgy and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with his Masters of Business Administration.
Ed lived most of his life in Petersham, MA moving to Seymour, CT in 2021 to live with his other daughter, Lori Chuckta and her husband David, due to health issues.
Before his retirement, Ed was the chief metallurgist for Union Twist Drill/Union Butterfield, Athol, MA and taught engineering classes at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Lowell, MA.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with Kay and playing trumpet in the Petersham Brass Band and Orange Community Band. He was a long time school committee member for Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School (Monty Tech) and a member of the Petersham Congregational Church.
Besides his twin daughters, Ed leaves behind his Grandson, Andrew Chuckta and his wife Rosalie (Lyons) Chuckta of Middletown, CT, his Granddaughter, Natalie Chuckta of Berlin, CT, his sisters Ilene McLean of Industry, PA and Donna Pinoli of Sunnyvale, CA along with several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at West Street Cemetery, Petersham, MA at the convenience of the family.
