Devoted mother of Elizabeth (Don) Arnsperger of Salisbury, Missouri, George (Lee) Murray of St. Louis, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Cacciabeve of Gainesville, Florida, and Mary Kathleen (Randy) Staples of Southlake, Texas. Doting grandmother of Amy (Tim) Swallow, Dan (Catherine) Arnsperger, Emily Murray, Julie Murray (Dan Kozikowski), Katie (Jason) Dressel, Kyla (Andy) Meisenhelder, Keith Cacciabeve (Rene Arriaza) and Kelly Cacciabeve. Proud “GiGi” of 13 great-grandchildren. Dearest aunt to many, including her loving niece Betsy Cooper Muhle.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Honorable George E. Murray, Jr., parents John W. Cooper and Katherine Russell Cooper, brother John “Jack” Cooper, daughters-in-law Linda Young Murray and Christy Willibrand Murray, grandson George E. Murray IV and great-granddaughter Abigail Grace Arnsperger.
Elizabeth loved unconditionally, and she was loved unconditionally. Born in St. Louis, she grew up in Webster Groves and Kirkwood, went to school at Holy Redeemer and Villa Duchesne, attended Marymount College in New York, and finished her education at Washington University. She spent summers during her youth sailing on Lake Michigan. While raising her family, she operated her own residential real estate brokerage business. Throughout her life, she was an expert bridge player and an avid golfer. She traveled extensively, including trips across the U.S. as well as Canada, Europe, South and Central America, the South Pacific and China. Into her 60s she water skied at Lake of the Ozarks and snow skied in Colorado. At the age of 80 she braved white water rapids on the Little Pigeon River in the Smoky Mountains.
Most remarkable is the way she connected with people, every day. Elizabeth found magic in the mundane, and made sure her family and friends shared that enthusiasm. She was wise, humble, strong, respectful and patient. She truly only saw the good in people. She showed up. She listened. She was a gentlewoman, known for her handwritten, heartfelt notes and letters. Confidante. Hostess. Guest. Friend. Whatever the role, Elizabeth was endlessly kind.
