Passed away peacefully, while sleeping on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at his home with his wife of 57 years beside him.
Glenn was a graduate of Bishop DuBourg High School.
Glenn & Diane met in 1961 at Wilds Palace of Poison that used to be on Lemay Ferry Road directly across from Hoffmeister South County Chapel. Diane was a junior in high school. Glenn had already graduated in 1960. When Diane graduated from Bayless High School in June of 1962, they were married on September 1, 1962.
In 1967 Glenn was drafted into the Army. Final station was in Glessen, Germany driving for the Colonel. Diane was able to go to Germany to be with him for 11/2 years. They traveled all over Europe. With the help of a book called "Europe on $5.00 a day" they found places to go, where to eat, where to stay and what to see. They saw so many things on very little money.
While in Germany, Diane became pregnant with Dannelle Dyan Fendler. She left Germany before Glenn so Dannelle would be born in the USA. She was born August 16, 1968 and was 6 weeks old when Glenn was released from the service and came home.
Two years later another beautiful baby girl arrived. Deborah Dawn Fendler, Dec. 19. 1970.
Debbie passed away in 2013 from breast cancer leaving a beautiful little girl named Abigail Josephine Johns. Special friends Jon and Ashley have one other grandchild Thomas Johns, adding to their family with daughter Abigail.
Dannelle married Timothy Ward and they were blessed with two sons; Timothy Wilson 8/1/1994 and Nathan Alexander 3/24/1997. Nate is now engaged to Mackenzie Geers.
In 1978 Glenn and Diane bought the Ted Fendler Funeral Home from his parents, who wanted to retire to the Lake of the Ozarks. They lived upstairs at the funeral home until they sold the business in 1987. Glenn was the manager of Hoffmeister South County Chapel until 1991 when he retired. Diane worked there until 1992 and she also retired. They began a new life at Terre Du Lac Golf Community in Bonne Terre, Mo. They had many great times there with their friends. They returned to St. Louis when their daughter Debbie became ill.
Glenn had a wonderful life. God has blessed us with each of our girls and our grandchildren.
Glenn lived a full life and had no regrets. May God be with him.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, Lemay, Mo., from 2:00-8:00 pm.
