I can remember so many celebrations we did together as well as everyday events but I especially remember skiing all day at Vail and then driving all night to get back to St Louis ahead of a white out storm. I was driving and had to keep talking to Gotfried to stay awake. He told me many things about his life and I never tired hearing them! Miss my friends and wish we had lived next door long before we actually bought the house and moved so close.

On the second anniversary of Gotfried’s leaving us to join Mary Ann and Elizabeth in heaven, I am remembering all the happy times we shared. Birthdays, holidays, times at the lake, times in Vail and just daily conversations. How sweet were the early years and how precious the later ones when we moved right next door and shared in listening for his voice on the patio next door. We were there whenever he needed us and are grateful to have been part of the “family”. Tom has since joined the celebration of our Lord and Saviour and the angels rejoice with us.That these two great friends are now together in heaven. 

Suzana and Simon: just a note to say you did your daddy proud after his passing just as you took care of him in his aging years.   Both the wake and the funeral were so nice and a fitting tribute to a very special person that touched all of our lives. Thank you for allowing us to be with you in those intensely private and emotional moments!  We love you very much!

Dear Suzanna and Simon,
 I am very sorry for the loss of your loving father, your father in law and a wonderful grandfather to Mary Ann and Ingrid.

For me Gottfried represented a link to the old country.
It gave me a lot of comfort knowing he was always there and knowing that I was always welcome to visit him.
Over the years we took lots of walks together, we had lots of nice visits and meaningful conversations. 
I mourn the loss of my good friend, he was part of my world and I will never forget him. 

Peace with God,  that was his name and that
is how he lived his life!

I'm so glad to have met your dad. I'll never forget the dapper cut of his white linen suit as he strolled across Becca's lawn toward the pool. My heartfelt condolences to you and yours.

When I met Gottfried at the age of 27 I was rather awestruck at his enthusiasm for business, and for life in general.  I was his young real estate sales person and he had a large influence on me.  Without his encouragement I would not had found the confidence to head out to Colorado at the age of 30 where my life began a whole new trajectory! It’s where I always wanted to be.  Thank you Gottfried!  You taught me in ways I didn’t understand at the time.

There was never a boring moment with Gottfried. One of the last things he said to me a few months ago was “don’t ever retire, you’ll get bored”, and the same day he also said he liked the way I was combing my hair! I wasn’t expecting that one!!  He could always catch you off guard.  I appreciated him more than he knew, then again maybe he did.  I sure hope  so.

My family and I send their heartfelt condolences to Sue and Simon on the passing of Gottfried,  a  remarkable man.  Few could match his gusto and sheer love of life and family.  He truly was  the personification of a life well-lived.

Suzanna, I’m sorry to be so far away. You, Simon and the girls were the best gift your Dad could have before he left this Earth.  He will now Rest In Peace.

So sorry to hear of Gottfried passing. He was one of the most memorable men we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. His stories will live on forever in the hearts of friends. Our condolences to the family on this sad occasion.
