Mr. John Denton Gallander

Gallander, John D. Jack Thursday, September, 29,2011 Dear father of Pamela (John) Mandelker and John Gallander III, brother of James (Janet) Gallander, Pop Jack to Alison and Susan Mandelker, and Jordan and Walker Gallander, brother-inlaw and uncle. Married for 49 years to Barbara (Tschantz) who passed away in 2006. Mr. Gallander grew up in Shelbyville, IL. He was a star athlete, and was invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals when he was a senior in high school. He attended the University of Michigan, where he received his B.S and M.B.A. degrees. After serving in the Air Force, he joined U.S. Steel where he worked for 35 years in sales and marketing, in Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Buffalo, and other Midwest cities. In 1996 he retired to Hilton Head Island, S.C. where he enjoyed golf and part-time work for Lakeside Metals . In 2004, Mr. Gallander moved to St. Louis, and enjoyed watching every Cardinal game with his beloved dogs, Barley and Ginger, and being active with his grandchildren.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30am at Ladue Chapel, 9450 Clayton Rd, with a reception to follow at the church.
