Mr. Diehl was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from General Motors after 38 years of service. He worked on the Corvette line where he etched his initials on the oil pan of the last Corvette made in Saint Louis. He was also a member of the Maplewood Lions Club for 25 years. He was a Loving Husband, Great Father, and the BEST Grandfather. He was very strict with his children, but when the Grandchildren came along, He would give them absolutely anything they needed or wanted. He would help anyone in need and was the strongest, most generous man that everyone called friend. He was an avid hunter of deer and turkey. He grew a garden each year and his tomatoes were the highlight of summers for many people.

He was preceded in death by both parents: Harry E Diehl and Carolina Diehl (nee Pilousek); 2 grandsons: Christopher Shoptaugh and Joshua Diehl; Brothers and Sisters: Lorraine (Dale) Fearnley, Harry H. Diehl, Wilbur (Marie) Diehl, Harvey Diehl, Orville Diehl, Charlotte (Bill) Ellis, and Audrey Stout
