Mr. Benjamin M. Benson, of Peabody, formerly of Swampscott, entered into rest September 7, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of Lucille (Kahan) Benson. Born in Dorchester, “Benny from Boston” was a proud World War II Army Veteran, who entered the service in 1943 and became a member of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. After the war he met the love of his life Lucille Kahan on Revere Beach and their devotion to each other lasted 67 wonderful years. Mr. Benson’s career began to flourish while he attended night classes, graduated from Bentley College and passed his CPA exam. He began working for a small CPA firm that eventually became Horwath and Horwath International where he served as International Marketing Partner. Ben also authored the book Your Family Business and was a founding member of Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead. As an avid photographer he won many awards, as a member of the Lynn Amateur Photo Club. In 1967 he had the opportunity to cover the Red Sox World Series and the NBA Finals for the Salem News. Benjamin loved music, gadgets, public speaking and all Boston sports teams, but nothing compared to the love and devotion he gave to his family, especially his wife and grandchildren. Mr. Benson lived life for others and never complained; he spent countless hours assisting his first cousin on her immigration from Russia to Israel. Benjamin will be missed for his warm, kind, gentle spirit and sharp dressing. He was the devoted father of Lloyd Benson and his wife Pamela Phillips of Salem, Robert Benson and his wife Audrey Murphy of Fall River and Steven “Woody” Benson and his wife Beth of Boston. Loving brother of Edmund Benson and his wife Susan of Hallandale, FL and the late Ruth Lenson and Sarah Feinstein.
