Betty Schrater

Betty {Silverman} Schrater – 97 of Swampscott, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 17, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Harry Schrater. Loving mother to Robert Schrater and wife Trudy, Evelyn White and late husband Wayne and Matthew Schrater and wife Stephanie. She was an adoring, devoted "Nana" to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was born to Isaac and Ida Silverman.

Betty grew up in Revere and worked in her parents grocery store on Shirley Ave. She was a member of Hadassah and served as president of Temple Sinai Sisterhood. She volunteered for the Red Cross blood drive for many years. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, walking, swimming, especially in the ocean at the beach. She was a regular at the JCC. She taught softball. Most of all she cherished and loved time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also traveled a lot with her husband and their favorite place was Aruba.

A funeral service for Betty will be held on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 11:00AM at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA 01970 with interment to follow at Sudlikov Cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, MA 02149.

Shiva will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to a charity of choice.
