Boris Tenenbaum, the son of Mark and Tanya Tenenbaum, passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2023. He was 75. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Brookline. Please see details below.
Boris Tenenbaum was born in Moscow on May 7th, 1948, one week before Israel declared independence. He was an intellectual with an astonishing photographic memory and a love of history, fiction, and the arts.
Boris graduated from The Moscow Institute of Aviation, one of Russia's top universities, with a master's in computer coding for airplane radar systems. He was a software developer by trade, but his true passion was writing. As the sun set on his career as a programmer, he began self-publishing books and essays: Hill of Spring, Casablanca, Diplomats, The End of La Belle Epoque, and others. A Russian book publisher took notice. With their help, Boris wrote eight widely published history books: Arab-Israeli Wars, The Mighty Churchill, Machiavelli, Bismarck, Borges, Hitler, Lincoln, and Tudors. His most successful book, Churchill, sold over 100,000 copies and is widely distributed in Russia, Israel, and other countries where Russian is a commonly spoken language.
Boris spent 40 years living in Swampscott, Massachusetts, where he raised his children. The public library has a shelf dedicated to his books. He loved his children and grandchildren, wife, parents, brother, and friends.
Boris is survived by his brother Vlad, his wife of 48 years, Natasha Tenenbaum, and his two children, Olga Lawson and Misha Tenenbaum.
