Nécrologie de Gerald E. Ostrer
Gerald E. Ostrer of Wellesley, entered into rest on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of the late Susan Ostrer for 48 years. Devoted father of Lynne Ostrer (husband Adam) of Falls Church, VA, and Brian Ostrer (wife Merideth) of Berkeley, CA. Cherished grandfather of Morgan and Hailey Ostrer of Berkeley, CA. Loving brother of the late Robert Ostrer of Marblehead. Dear son of the late Edith and Abraham Ostrer. Known universally for his friendly smile, kindness, and sense of humor, Gerald “Jerry” was born and grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School and Boston University before traveling to California to obtain his MBA at the University of Southern California. Jerry returned to Massachusetts where he served as an officer in the Air Force Reserve before raising his family in Wellesley where he was a resident for nearly 50 years. Jerry was a lifelong information systems professional who began his career in management information systems before retiring as an IT Procurement Manager from The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He loved traveling around the world with his wife, particularly to historical locations, tinkering on projects around the house, and demonstrating his mastery of dad jokes. He never met a pun he didn’t like. Throughout his life, Jerry enjoyed sharing his fascination of all things great and small with those around him. Jerry will be missed greatly by his family and friends. To honor his life, a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Sons of Jacob Cemetery, Danvers, MA on Monday, July 19, 2021. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jerry’s memory to a worthy charitable organization of your choice.
