

Poland, Mildred, age 88, of W. Palm Beach, FL; formerly of Swampscott passed away Sunday, September 1st, 2013 in W. Palm Beach after a 14 year battle with Dementia. Born September 6, 1924 in Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late Rubin and Yetta (Kaufman) Simon. Mildred was a pioneer ahead of her time, involved in many charities in Massachusetts and Florida. She was honored by the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach for her work with the Poland Foundation. She was a very trusted part of her community both in Massachusetts and Florida, always there to give advice or a helping hand; her personality was second to none. A former congregant at Temple Emanu-el of Marblehead she was always very involved. Mildred was blessed enough to be able to travel all over the world with her husband Ted and also with her daughter Phyllis. She was an avid reader, golfer and an aficionado of the Arts. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Ted Poland. Loving mother of Phyllis Poland-Ferriter and her husband Roger Ferriter of Larchmont, NY; Richard Poland of Henderson, NV. Loving sister of the late Phillip Simon. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Poland Liebman of New York City. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St, Salem at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Temple Emanu-el Memorial Park, Buxton Road, Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
