Neal A. Jacobs, age 95 of Rockport, formerly Needham, deceased 1/20/2012. Owner Jacobs Shoe Store in Needham. Graduated Needham High School, Harvard Class of 1939, Babson College 1940. Avid town committee volunteer in Needham and then in Rockport where he enjoyed more than 30 years after retiring from his shoe business. He hosted birthday parties for himself at ages 90 and 92 to benefit the Rockport Library and Rockport Art Association, matching all community donations. He is survived by his former wife Ruth Harriet Jacobs, his sister Evelyn Tibbert, his son Eli, his daughter Edith, and his dear friend Corinne Waring. Services at Temple Ahavat Achim, 86 Middle St, Gloucester Monday 1/23/12 at 11 AM followed by burial at Mt Jacob Cemetery in Gloucester. All family and friends are invited to return to the temple for a shiva meal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockport Public Library.
