

Salem, Roberta (Sherman) Kreplick, 73, of Salem, formerly of Lynn and Marblehead, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 5, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lynn, March 4, 1940, the daughter of Samuel and Mitzie (Sirkin) Sherman, Roberta was the devoted wife of Hubert Kreplick for 53 years.
Roberta grew up in Lynn, married, and moved to Marblehead in 1962 where she and Hubert resided for 44 years, before they moved to Salem in 2006. She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Boston University School of Education and Lesley University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Special Education.
In earlier years, Roberta worked in Lynn at the Brotherhood Credit Union, which was started by her grandfather in 1934. She taught religious education at the former Temple Israel and at Temple Emanu-El. She was a professional educator at the Marblehead Middle School, 1974-1975 and at the Masconomet Regional School District from 1976 to 2005. She was recognized at Masconomet for her outstanding work on the Special Education handbook used by the department and was awarded Master Teacher status. As a psychometrician and a teacher, she prepared numerous IEPs to assist learning disabled students. Roberta served for many years providing joy, comfort, and support as the Happy Day Coordinator for the Masconomet Teachers Association.
A teacher, mentor, and guide to numerous students and fellow teachers, Roberta loved to travel. She possessed a natural curiosity as well as a zeal for the value of education. By 1997, she had visited all seven continents. She often told her students about her travels and the Wonders of the World that she had seen. Describing her teaching style, Roberta commented: “I was firm, yet fair, as well as open and honest. I taught the curriculum to my students, but added Lessons in Life that were relevant to them. I was always available to my students and their parents. Everyone knew I loved teaching and I know that I made a difference in so many of their lives.”
Proud of her heritage, her faith, her profession, and her family, Roberta was also a member of Hadassah and a Board Member of the former Temple Israel. She was a member of the Masconomet and Massachusetts Teacher Association as well as the National Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert, and their three children, Dr. Lance W. Kreplick and wife Jane, Margot (Kreplick) Bloom and husband George, and Mia (Kreplick) Klein and husband Darren. She was the proud grandmother of Alexis Kreplick, Samantha, Jessica, and Jennifer Bloom; and Benjamin, Jackson, and Andrew Klein. She was the sister to Lynnda (Sherman) Bloom and husband Martin and to James Sherman and wife Judith. She leaves many nephews and nieces and numerous grand nephews and nieces.
Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10 AM. Burial in the Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial observance at the home of Mia and Darren Klein immediately following the burial on Wednesday until 8 PM, Thursday 6-8 PM, Friday 5-7 PM and on Saturday 7-9 PM. A Masconomet scholarship fund has been established in her name and contributions in her memory can be made to The Roberta S. Kreplick Scholarship, c/o Masconomet Regional School District, 20 Endicott Road, Topsfield, MA 01983.
