Roberta Ruth Shuman

Roberta R. Shuman (Ginesky), age 81, of Groveland, Massachusetts, passed away on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on January 15, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Revere before later making her home in Swampscott.

Roberta was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Sylvia Ginesky, who instilled in her a deep sense of family, creativity, and kindness that she carried throughout her life.

She was the devoted wife and best friend of Martin L. Shuman, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. Together, Roberta and Marty built a life filled with love, curiosity, laughter, and shared passions—most especially their love of nature.

Roberta was a loving and proud mother to Ilana M. Fandel and her husband Sean, and a cherished “Mamie” to her adored granddaughters, Emma and Allie Fandel, who were truly the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Alan Ginesky; Bret and Jaime Ginesky, who lovingly named her “Auntbrie”; and her nieces, Nancy and Pam, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Roberta had a deep love for wildlife photography, a passion she joyfully shared with Marty. The two were always ready to hop in the car with cameras, binoculars, and tripods in hand, eager to discover which birds they might spot next. These outings were more than a hobby—they were moments of connection, wonder, and shared joy.

She also found immense happiness in creative pursuits, including scrapbooking, journaling, and hand-crafted journal making. Her home featured a special art room where she spent countless hours creating, reflecting, and sharing her love of art with her granddaughters—making memories (and projects) that will be treasured forever.

Roberta will be remembered for her warmth, her boundless creativity, her unconditional love for her family, and her famously cozy, comforting hugs. Her legacy of love, artistry, and gentle joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
