When I looked at the first rashi of the first verse of the Torah reading of  this last Shabbes I was reminded of the Rashi I had cited to Rabbi Zaitchik in more than one conversation with him regarding his retirement and leaving Lynn.    

"sheyitzias tzaddik min hamokom oseh roshem" "That when a tzaddik leaves a place it leaves a mark"   
During the golden age of Zaitchik the shul was the most minyan reliable institution in the North Shore and because of its reputation people would come for yaharzeits confident there would be a minyan.  And, of course, rabbi Zaitchik was himself an inspiration to attend because he came regularly in all kinds of weather even walking to shul on bitter cold wintry shabbes days that I knew posed a real hardship to the old man.   The mikvah he helped to construct for the community has been broken and unoperational for at least a couple of years. 
The Rashi continues to say (in essence) that  " from the time that a tzaddik leaves a city the city's grandeur leaves with him" 

He will be fondly remembered and sincerely missed by the North Shore Jewish Community.

I am so sad to hear of your dad's passing.  You dad was a very special person in our family, he was a moral compass for us all.  His smile lit up the room, his gentleness was ever present, his sisters and brother Joe were so devoted to one another it taught the rest of us how to treat our siblings and how to go forth into this world and do the right thing for the right reason.  Because his sister Alice was married to my mother's brother we always considered he, Nell and their kids, our relatives.  We were away and came back to this news, my deepest condolences.  My heart is sad the an icon in my life has left us.

When my father died, in 1977, I reached out to Rabbi Zaitchik, as my father had done when his parents died.  He helped us through a very bad time, with kindness and compassion.  I will always be grateful.

I just discovered about the rabbi's passing. I remember him fondly as my Rabbi in my youth. He was a good friend as well as his wife to my parents of blessed memory. I was in Israel visiting my family and just found out of his passing. He was clearly very righteous man, knowledgeable and so helpful in good times as well moments of challenge. May his life be a blessing to his children, grandchildren and, and great grandchildren and to all whose lives were touched by this incredible human being.

I met Rabbi Zaitchik only once but his smile, kindness and wisdom are hard to forget. He was a little brother of my grandfather Yakov. Best memories of these people will always stay with us!

Rabbi Zaitchik was a neighbor in Brighton. My thoughts are with his children and Grandchildren who need the comfort now.

He was a wonderful man, who always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say.

I've spent many hours trying to find the best words to describe Rabbi Zaitchik and his influence on me. Rabbi, teacher, mentor, advisor. Each is good yet woefully insufficient. His love,warm and kindness, like that of Mrs. Zaitchik, z”l, have and continue to affect my life and those of so many others. May his name and memory continue as a blessing for his family, friends, students, and all those whose lives he so positively affected.

I have to say, that Rabbi Zaitchik was one of the most uplifting, understanding and friendliest people I have ever had the honor of meeting.  A gentleman and a man of G-d.
