AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Shelly Hope (Hymanson) Carpenter
12 avril 1969 – 12 novembre 2020
Shelly Hope (Hymanson) Carpenter, 51 of Lyndonville, VT formerly of the North Shore of MA, entered into rest on November 12, 2020. Shelly is survived by her loving husband of nearly 20 years, Curtis Carpenter and their two children Talan and Tanner, all of Lyndonville, VT; her father and mother, Edward and Elaine (Kaufman) Hymanson of Lynnfield, MA; her father and mother in-law, Grant and Elizabeth “Betsey” Carpenter of Lyndon Corner, VT; her siblings, Laurie Hymanson and Carl Goldman of Peabody, MA, Philip and Joan Hymanson of Pittsfield, MA; her sister and brother in-law, Heather (Carpenter) and Michael Heiser of Concord, VT; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Shelly was a loving and protective mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, and friend. She left a successful career as a corporate recruiter in Boston to give her undivided attention to her two children, whom she considered her life’s work. When, after many years in Peabody, Massachusetts, her husband became homesick for Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, she graciously agreed to pick-up the family and move to his hometown of Lyndonville. After the move, Shelly quickly vanquished any concerns that her husband might have harbored about this Jewish girl from Marblehead’s ability to fit in with the hard-scrabbled Yankees of the Kingdom. Once in Lyndonville, Shelly quickly integrated herself into the community, making friends everywhere she roamed. Despite living in Lyndonville less than four years, she will be remembered for a lifetime by all those whom she met.
Shelly enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, traveling, cooking for her family, decorating for the holidays, and, of course, bragging about her sons’ achievements. But more than anything, she loved simply chatting on the front porch with the constant stream of friends, neighbors and relatives who came to pay their visit. Shelly loved to tell stories; be they stories of her beloved grandparents, stories of her childhood, or stories of her career in Boston. It is through her stories, now committed to memory by her children, that she will continue to live on this earthly plain. While Shelly was taken from them far too soon, her spirit will continue to watch over her family from on high; as she promised her boys every night, “I love you forever, and when forever is over I will still love you.”
Due to regulations imposed by the Coronavirus Pandemic a private graveside service will be held at the Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lynn, MA.

My favorite memory of Shelly Carpenter is the day I met her! She brought "her Talan" to meet his new teacher at the Burke School. She would soon call the program, "The Hidden Treasure". I was lucky not only to have Talan, but his family for 3 years. During those 3 years Talan became "my Talan" too! Shelly radiated love and pride for her boys and husband. Even after moving to VT she continued to let me know how her boys were doing. Her support and numerous letters of gratitude are what I call PRICELESS! I am thinking of you all everyday and want you to know how lucky I feel to have been impacted by such a classy and loving women. I am still at The Burke and would cherish hearing about all your future successes!
With Love,

I remember Shelly vividly even though it has been over 20 years since I last saw her. As a friend of Laurie's I would see Shelly periodically as I lived in Massachusetts and would visit with the family often for the holidays. I always admired Shelly's self confidence, her smile, and her forthrightness! I too have two sons and pray for her children and husband whom will miss her dearly!
Life doesn't always work out the way we plan and I am so sorry for the loss of Shelly. But I am comforted knowing the legacy of her life that will be carried on by her family in her honor.
Shelly although it's been many years I'm so glad our paths crossed along the way!

Talan and family,
My heart goes out to all of you. Your mother Shelly was a fantastic mom who loved her family so much. She was so proud of you and Tanner. Even after you moved to Vermont, she always kept us up to date on how you were doing and proudly informed us of all your successes. She was such a delightful, bubbly and kind person and was always so appreciative of everything and everybody in her life. She definitely left her mark on all of us who knew her at the Burke School. She was and is unforgettable.
Just remember one thing~ your mom will be with you and watching over you and Tanner always. Her love for you will go on forever as she told you many times. She did a great job along with your dad at mothering you and your brother. You both are wonderful, caring and terrific boys that anyone would be proud of. Please know that I'm thinking of you and hope that you find comfort in the support that you have around you and especially from your dad and others that love you.
Always,

We are so sorry to hear about Shelly. She was so friendly, caring, and funny. We have many wonderful memories of Shelly, especially during our children’s younger years, when we’d chat away for hours while watching them play. It was easy to see that Shelly loved her family fiercely and was extremely proud of Tanner and Talan, her handsome princes. Shelly will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our deepest condolences to Curtis, Tanner, Talan, and family.

Curtis, Talan, and Tanner,
My heart goes out to you and your family. I remember meeting Shelly at the school open house for the first time. Her personality and sense of humor drew you in quickly and just knew she was going to be a fun person to be around! It was always a pleasure when I had to call her about the boys, it was clear they were her number one priority and just how much pride she had for them. I admire Shelly for her courage of posting on Facebook about her diagnosis. If it helps just one other woman to not got through this, I know she would be happy. Sending lots of love and prayers for you to get through this very difficult time.

I first met Shelly when I came back to work at Abbott Personnel in Boston. I loved hearing her stories about her courtship with Curtis, her nephew and family. She was a great storyteller! Nothing got by Shelly in the office, and I remember she would stick up for you if she felt something was unfair. I loved her posts on Facebook about her boys and following each of their many accomplishments.
When I moved on to a new job Shelly gave me a reference to "seal the deal"! I will remember her fondly and I know her boys will accomplish great things having such an encouraging and adoring Mother like her!

I am heartbroken to hear of Shelly's passing. Whenever Shelly saw me at holidays and family gatherings, she was always so kind and generous to me. I still recall when she let me whip the massed potatoes on Thanksgiving. My wife Sudi remembers how warm Shelly was to her on the few occasions she met her. My thoughts go out to Curtis, Talan, and Tanner during this difficult period.

I don't even know what words I can offer that would take away the pain you all are suffering at this moment. I only can affirm what a fine person and GREAT PROUD MOTHER Shelly was (and for two great reasons named Tanner and Talon)!
The tribute you (I assume mostly Curtis) wrote about Shelly was one of the most beautiful I have ever read and it brought me to tears. Shelly was so loved, and loved so. Love IS the greatest gift and legacy above all. I KNOW her memory will be a CONSTANT BLESSING to all of you. I wish you the strength to go forward knowing Shelly's neshama will always be within you.
Love, Marjie

Eddie, Elaine, Laurie and Phil,
I am devastated to hear of Shelly’s passing. I will always remember her as the little sister I didn’t have during our high school years. Never one to keep quiet, I can still picture all the times she would give me or Boppa a hard time. I am so so sorry for your loss. Thinking of all of you. Love and Hugs

So sorry to hear about Shelly. I started working with her father at the funeral chapel in 1976 when I was 19 years old, and I enjoyed getting to know Eddie's wonderful family. Shelly was a cute little girl, and at first she was a little shy with me. Over the 6 years I worked there, we always enjoyed seeing each other, both at the chapel and at her family's home on Gerald Road in Marblehead. Shelly loved being with her family, and I always admired how she definitely was her daddy's little girl. My sincere sympathy to her family.
