

Adelfa was born on August 7, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas and was the daughter of Andres and Consuelo (Martinez) Alvarez. She attended school in Texas and moved with her family to Oregon in 1961 where she resided throughout the Willamette Valley. On August 11, 1965, she married Regino Martinez in Woodburn and they had three children. She worked as a production manager in the local tortilla plant retiring in 2008. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Adelfa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that always put the needs of others before her own. She was supportive, nurturing, a hard worker and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was known for her words of wisdom and her family dinners. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Regino, children, Raul Martinez ( Ronda), Emilie Martinez and Johnny (Karla) Martinez, brothers, Paul Alvarez and Raymond Alvarez and sisters, Maria Teresa Lopez, Esperanza Alvarez and Ester Espindola along with 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Andres, Cristobal and Antonio and twin sister, Alicia.
A funeral mass will be on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Contributions may be made in memory of Adelfa to the Garten Foundation. Howell, Edwards, Doersken is handling the arrangments.
