Allan made a special trip to Lindsey Ohio in 2007 to honor Mr. Miller.  Attached is a photo from that commemoration.

We are saddened that we will not get to wave to Allan from across the street anymore.  It was a great comfort knowing he watched out for us. Our prayers are for his eternal rest and comfort to his family.

Allan had two traits that I always admired.  One, he found humor in just about everything.  Lots of folks have already commented on his ready smile.  I liked what was barely hidden behind it - a stifled snicker or snort that would usually bubble to the surface....(wait for it!)  Second, he always seemed to see a way to make things run better, more smoothely or efficiently, even the chairs and equipment in the hospital when Marty was in the midst of the LVAD adventure.

As a Lindsey, Ross Jr. High, and Ross Sr. High classmate, we shared many experiences in our "growing" years.  Although contact has been limited to class reunions, we were able to share in honoring Mr. Miller, our Lindsey 7th Grade teacher.  It was very important for Allan to be there and he shared with the rest of the class that Mr. Miller had "staightened him out" and changed his life from basketball to other more important things.  Clearly this "change of life" has allowed Allan to positively change many other people's lives.
Although we are extending our deepest sympathy to the family for the loss of Allen, it is also important to remember the celebration of his life.

What a hoot he was when we dedicated the Lindsey Park to Wendell Miller.  It was just great to have classmates together for a great fellowship. Allen I know enjoyed it so much, especially reminising about our childhoods. Such wonderful memories to store in our hearts of the love and friendship he extended to all.

May the Lord keep peace in your hearts until you see your loved one again.

Marty, Jason and David please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband/father. I had not known Allan that well until a couple years ago when he shared the power of alkaline water and am so glad we became good friends through that common interest.  He and I shared many like views and I am sorry we didn't have more time to share.

We met Allan alittle over 10+ years ago when our children decided to get married. Over the years our friendship has gotten stronger and stronger.  Allan always was a helper with many of Jason's projects, the last being Jason's new house.  Bob and Allan worked right along with Jason, and shared many stories and lots of laughs.  We share two little granddaughters with Marty and Allan.  He was a devoted K-pa, alway's willing to get down on the floor and play, come to soccer and baseball games and of course ballet recitals.  Allan will alway's have a place in our hearts.  God Bless your family

So sorry to hear about the loss of Allan.  It has been many years since I have seen him but remember him as a very gentle and fun loving soul.  I am sure that he will be missed.  God bless your family.

If you were lucky enough to have Allan as a friend and needed help, he was always willing and able.  He always tried to make your circumstances and the world around him better.  I will miss his smile, the times we shared our similar backgrounds and tall stories.  Rest in peace Allan, you are now free.

Al was my friend. 
We laughed a lot while he worked on somethin-or-other in the garage. He gave me a hard time, and would laugh as I gave it right back.
He's the reason I know how to cook eggs (from a camping trip with Jason, too, at the family property at Little N. Fork) and which way I like eggs best.
I loved that he and Marty moved...and again, within a few blocks of my parents, so that has meant that I stop by every time he's out front, but I know their door is always open, so I'd even stop late at night. I've always just felt like one of their kids. They're sorta stuck with me. 
Al always made it to ribbon-cuttings for new businesses with the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. He loved that. He wanted people to feel welcome, but he also loved to talk :)
He's such a hard worker, and the boys juggling all they do sure shows their DNA.
And who hasn't had Al (or Jason) try to sell them something? ;) The family certainly has conviction and passion for what they love. Case in point: have you seen the Xmas decor on their house, complete with a real 10ft lit-up tree that gets planted in the middle of the green grassy yard for the Christmas season? Just a few days ago Al said to me, "Well, the grandchildren are coming ya know..." as his heart showed a familiar shade of 'softy'.
A few weeks back, Al did one of my favorite things that always cracked me up-- I'd say very motherly, "Are you doing too much?" And he'd smirk and say, "Just look at these muscles!!!" as he flexed in his old, work tshirt. I'll remember that mischievous smile and that deep, accompanying chuckle the most. I'll also remember him putting an arm around me occasionally, taking a moment to tell me how nice he thought I was and how good it was when I stopped by. He said Jason did at least a few things right in order to still have a friend like me ;)

Allan was a wonderful man, husband, father and friend! He seemed to always have a smile on his face and had a passion for life! This World needs more men like him!  My condolences to Marty and the Family!

Allan was one of a kind!! I will miss him so...He has such warmth and caring. He always made me smile-even when he was trying to take Marty's LVAD equipment apart to see how it ran!! Whenever I called Marty on the phone to check on her, he would holler in the background and tell me me how she really was doing- He had a great smile and always made me feel special. He will truly be missed. Rae
