Salem - Allan passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 20, 2011. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio on July 22, 1944 to Roy and Rose Heckel. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1962, and went into the US Air Force where he was stationed in Hawaii where he met the love of his life, Marty. They were married in 1967 in Salem, where they made their home with their two sons, David and Jason.
Allan loved many things, motorcycle riding with his good friend Bill, playing with his granddaughters on the floor, practicing martial arts, camping, cooking, writing poetry and photography.
Allan was preceded in death by his father, Roy Heckel. Surviving Allan is his mother, Rose; wife of nearly 45 years, Martha; son David; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Michele; grandchildren Alexandria and Daphnie; brothers Larry, Rick and Rob; sister Kate.
Allan was truly a wonderful friend, a great husband, a great father and K-Pa. All that got to know him know that once you met him, he was your friend. Was he loved? Yes. Will he be missed? Absolutely. Was he one of the most well rounded men to ever step foot on this earth? HECK YA!
