Betty was married to Jack Allaway for 54 years before his death in 2000. They had a very happy and full life together. Betty worked for the Salem School District in the central library office for many years. Before that we were blessed to have her as a stay-at-home mom.
Betty loved traveling and she and her daughter, Barb took many trips throughout the years, which will always be treasured memories. She also loved visiting her son, David and his wife at their home in Las Vegas. She had fun trying out her "luck" once in a while, while there. Visits each summer with her daughter, Marcia were very treasured and she always looked forward to them.
Betty was a wonderful baker, cross-stitcher, seamstress and an avid reader. She is survived by her son, David Allaway and his wife Marcene, her daughter Barbara Etzel and husband Dave, and predeceased by her daughter Marcia Fassler.
She is also survived by 7 grandkids: David Allaway, Mark Allaway, Joseph Fassler, Emily Fassler, Jordan Fassler, Jeff Etzel and Nancy Newman as well as 11 great grandchildren.
