

Bettye Lou Hammack of Salem, Oregon passed away March 7, 2026. She was 94 years old. Bettye was born on April 15, 1931, to Nick and Jewel Brinkley. She grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School and then attended Oregon State University where she was an Alpha Chi Omega.
She then went into Banking where she met her future sister-in-law Arlene Delon which introduced her to her future husband Ralph Hammack. They were married in 1952. Bettye spent 25 years in Banking. They belonged to Columbia River Yacht Club and made a lot of trips up and down the Columbia River to the San Juan Islands where they would spend a month each summer. They also spent a lot of time skiing and snowmobiling with their family and also many trips to Maui.
Proceeding her in death were her parents Nick and Jewel Brinkley. Her husband Ralph Hammack, Son Curtis Hammack, Son Greg Hammack, and Grandson Shaw Hammack. She is survived by Daughter Debra Carr (Lloyd), Sister Shery Lacey (Bill), Daughter-in-Law Brenda Hammack, Grandchildren Wendi Coates (Brandon), Lori Hardy (Jon), Kayla Wood (Robert), Kelley Williams (Bo), Brad Nordone, 12 Great grandchildren and one Great Great Granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be Held June 13th at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem, Oregon.
