Beverly Jean Holmes (Hutchison) was born on July 22, 1929 and grew up in Goodland, Kansas. She was a talented young pianist and also regularly played the organ at her church. At just 14 years old she played the piano in a traveling orchestra, playing all around the local area for various events and dances.
Bev moved to Salem with her parents, Joe and Pauline, and sister Marceline when she was in high school. She graduated from North Salem High and went on to attend Willamette University and Boston College. When at Willamette, she became a member of Alpha Chi Sorority, and remained active with her group throughout her life. She forever treasured the friendships she formed with her Alpha Chi sisters.
Bev and her husband, Bud, had three children ~ Mark, Julie, and David. She was a dearly loved Grandma and Nana to Bonnie, Heather, Krista, Scott, Molli, and Emma; as well as having five great-grandchildren. Bev was loved by many, and she so enjoyed meeting new people and often made fast friends with strangers! She loved to bake and try new recipes. She loved feeding and watching her little hummingbirds. She loved all animals-especially dogs and cats. She loved her iced tea, Butterfingers, and Hershey‘s kisses! Beverly’s grandchildren remember her as being gregarious, independent, tenacious, a fighter, selfless, and a sweet friend.
Beverly passed peacefully in her home on August 14th. There will be no service, at Bev’s request. Please feel free to donate to her favorite charity ~ Willamette Valley Humane Society. A special thank you to Senior Helpers and Serenity Hospice. And to her neighbors ~ thank you for loving Bev like family.
Beverly Jean, you will be truly missed. You were one of a kind and a saucy, little lady! You will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those whose lives you touched.
