Brian was born in Portland, Oregon to Ron and Patty Roach and raised in Salem, Oregon. He graduated from McKay High School in 1995. During high school, Brian was a four-year lettermen, who excelled in academics, soccer, and wrestling.
Upon graduation, Brian attended the University of Oregon, where he was a member of Gold Key National Honor Society and earned a degree in Business.
A committed Duck-for-life,he was an enthusiastic supporter of all University of Oregon athletics.
After graduation from college he began his career as a stockbroker and a financial planner.
Brian was an avid fisherman. Over the years he spent countless hours on the beautiful McKenzie River, fly fishing with flies he expertly tied himself. He often could be found in his own back yard, working in his vegetable gardens, and most recently, building a greenhouse.
However, Brian's true passion was the game of soccer. It didn't matter whether he was on the pitch as player #17, or as Coach Roach: that was where he belonged. His coaching life included working with teams at Sheldon High School, with the competitive soccer clubs in Eugene, and most recently, the Eugene Timbers FC. It was in this capacity that Brian touched so many lives and athletic careers, instilling solid character as well as soccer skills in his players. A legacy that will live on for many years. He loved teaching these kids. Every player was a top priority for him.
Above all else, Brian's life revolved around his family and friends They were his core. His kindness, quick wit and unique sense of humor were true assets that his family and friends were drawn to his whole life.
In August 2014, at 37 years old, Brian was diagnosed with cancer. In typical Brian fashion he fought bravely with every ounce of life in him. He had a strong faith in God, and we are comforted to know that he is in heaven with his Lord right now.
Brian will be deeply and forever missed by his loving parents, sister, Sarah Aydelotte (Aaron), his aunts, uncles, cousins, step-niece and step nephews, girlfriend Julie Skinner, his many friends, and his adoring nephews, Isaiah and Jackson. He was, and always will be their hero. Likewise,he loved and bragged about them as if they were his own sons. We love you, Brian. Go Ducks!
