

Charles L (Chuck) Franklin of Salem, died 12-24-2013, 87 years at the time of death, he was born in Salina KS on January 10, 1926 to Ernest & Mable Franklin, the first of four sons. He graduated from Salina High in 1943. He married Georgialee McLean on January 28, 1945, moving to Oregon in 1948. Charles worked as a farm hand, a house painter and a carpenter before becoming a general contractor. As a contractor he delighted in volunteering to assist numerous churches with remodels and new construction projects. He was never too busy when the call for help would come. He assisted in the evacuation of Salem Hospital during the Christmas floods of 1964.
Charles delighted in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to the little ones and answering there many curious questions, always stooping to their level. He is survived by his spouse, Georgialee, and all six of his children, Cheryl (& David) Peck (Louisburg, NC), Novelyn (& Dave) Voll (Salem), Melodie (& Brian) Tooley (Salem), Lonnie (& Char) Franklin (Grants Pass), Cara (& Tom) Engstrom (Curlew, WA) & Shawna Whitaker (Salem), ten grandchildren, & six great-grandchildren. He is survived by brother, Lewis Franklin of Salina Kansas. His parents & brothers, Clarence & Raymond predeceased him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Redwood Heights Assisted Living at 2:30pm on Saturday, December 28th. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards Doerksen with Rigdon Ransom Funeral Directors.
