

Charyel’s family moved to Salem, Oregon when she was 12 years old and she entered Parrish Jr. High School and then Salem High School, graduating in 1943.
She met the love of her life, “Mac” Eldon G. McDermeit, while he was stationed at Camp Adair before entering WWII. They met as they each were on bicycle rides with friends near Salem. They became engaged before he went overseas and then after he returned, married on March 30, 1946.
Mom loved being “Mac’s” sweetheart for over 60 years. They loved family, friends, yard work and travel. Dad passed away in 2007.
She leaves behind son, Tom (Karlann) McDermeit; daughter, Marea (Mike) Stone; grandsons, Ben, Tyler and Nathan Stone, and Joel and Titus McDermeit. Also great grandchildren; Luke, Ava, Evan, Zachary, and Dylan and a new great granddaughter is on the way. She also leaves loving granddaughters-in-law; Molly and Christy, a brother (Melvin), sister-in-law (Dorothy), nieces, nephews and many friends.
She loved the Lord and is now joined with “Mac” in heaven. Mom was a member of Salem’s First Baptist Church for over 70 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 am at Salem First Baptist Church. Charyel is under the care of Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. To leave audio or online condolences please visit www.HED-FH.com.
