Dale, a long-time resident of Salem, passed away July 26, 2022 from organ failure in the Salem Hospital following an ongoing battle with complications from cancer surgery and treatment done decades earlier.
He was born May 31, 1936 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from OSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and began a long career in construction. He became a partner in Marion Construction, and worked there until his retirement. He was a member and leader of several construction-related organizations.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia “Pat” Peterson. Survivors include children Ray (Karolette), Roger (Lori), Barb, and Dianne (Dave). He also had six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Dale was an avid golfer and founding member of the construction golf league. After retirement, he also took up quilting which he did with his wife, Pat, and later friend and neighbor Carol.
